Do i-Lashes damage the natural lash?
No. i-Lashes do not damage the natural lashes unless incorrect after care takes place. The natural lash will not be damaged unless they are pulled out deliberately with the i-Lashes attached to them.
Is i-Lashes application painful?
i-Lashes application is not at all painful; in fact it is considered one of the most relaxing beauty treatments available today. You are required to lay down with your eyes shut for a minimum of 90 minutes, when you open your eyes you will have long, naturally curved, beautiful lashes.
Are i-Lashes suitable for everyone?
i-Lashes are not suitable for everyone, especially if you are a low maintenance girl or guy with hardly any spare time, nor are i-Lashes suitable for clients with no existing eyelashes.
Are i-Lashes expensive?
i-Lash prices will vary from technician to technician, the length of time it takes to apply the lashes and the amount of lashes used will be taken into account when charging each client. If you want a perfectionist to do your i-Lashes its worth paying that little bit extra. It is also worth bearing in mind the price is in line with all other specialised cosmetic treatments.
How long will i-Lashes take?
A full application of i-Lashes will take a minimum of 90 minutes, maximum 2 hours. Maintenance procedures will take around 30 minutes.
How long do i-Lashes last?
The average life cycle of a single natural lash is 42 days. The maximum time -Lashes last is 2 months, however it is not unusually for clients to lose a lash extension if it is placed on an old lash.
Why do you have to have maintenance?
Some i-Lash exti-ensions will begin to fall out at the end of the 2nd week; this is why you need to have maintenance every 2-3 weeks if you want your Nouveau Lash extensions to last and look fabulous.
Are i-Lash extensions similar to hair extensions?
i-Lashes can be compared to hair extensions but in the hands of an inexperience hair extension technician you can damage your hair and your hair gets thinner. This is not the case with any lash extensions your eyelashes will not get shorter nor will they become sparse.
Are i-Lashes adhesives safe?
i-Lash adhesive have odourless medical grade adhesive for sensitive eyes and this does not come in contact with the skin or the eyes. The only substance that can cause reactions is the adhesive on the medical tape. The medical tape is our 2nd option used to seal down the lower lashes if the anti wrinkle pads is not sufficient. These clients are normally allergic to plasters.
Does waxing hurt?
The sensation is similar to removing a plaster or being slapped with a plastic ruler: a momentary ouch! which quickly fades. Most clients find that the discomfort is nowhere near as bad as they had imagined. It is also worth mentioning that it gets easier with each subsequent waxing.
How long does the hair have to be?
For the best results hair needs to be approx 2 – 3 mm in length. The longer the hair the more painful it will be, so you can trim before your appointment or we can trim for you. After the first wax as long as you do not shave between appointments you will find the second waxing to be much more comfortable.
How long will results last and how often should I be waxed?
Everyone is different but on average you can expect between 3 to 5 weeks hair free skin. We recomend that initially you wax every 4 weeks to get on a growth cycle that gives the best results. After that you may find you can leave longer gaps. Continued waxing encourages slower softer, and in some cases sparser hair re-growth, and of course leaves the skin feeling silkly smooth, no nasty stubble as with shaving!
What do I need to do to prepare for waxing?
Make sure your hair is not too long, 2-3mm is an ideal length, hair can be trimmed before waxing it necessary. Shower before your appointment and if possible gently exfoliate the area to be waxed a few days beforehand to remove any dead skin cells and lift the hair. You may find it helps to take ibruprofen 20 minutes before your appointment (as long as it is medically ok to do so). Or you can apply a topical anesthetic cream to the area to be waxed 30 – 45 minutes before treatment. If you are a female client schedule your waxing for the first 2 weeks after your cycle, as your sensitivity is much lower during this time. Avoid caffeine, stress and alcohol as these are stimulants and may make you more sensitive. Pregnancy can also increase sensitivity.
Why get waxed?
There are many reasons for waxing.
- Being hair free feels cleaner and more hygienic
- Improved appearance.
- Partner prefers smooth look
- Reduces body odour, particuarly in summer
- Sports related beneifits for swimmers, cyclists and athletes
- Increases self confidence.
- Heightens sensitivity in intimate areas.
- Better body image
Will I feel uncomfortable after waxing?
Some slight soreness, redness, small bumps are common temporary reactions, particularly if it is your first wax. Sometimes you may experience slight bruising (especialy in intimate areas). All these should subside within a few hours and many people find that regular waxing results in less irritation.
What can I expect if I choose Intimate Waxing (Hollywood or Brazilian)?
You will need to be naked from the waist down for intimate waxing, so be prepared to leave your modesty at home! We understand that you may be feeling nervous and we aim to make you feel as comfortable as possible. Sometimes clients may experience physical arousal, this is nothing to worry about and usually subsides fairly rapidly. A Brazilian wax will remove all pubic hair except for a thin strip in the middle, and a Hollywood wax will remove all your pubic hair.
Are there any conditions that will prevent me from getting waxed?
Contagious skin conditions will prevent us from waxing the affected area until the condition has completely cleared. Skin care products that contain salicylic acid, glycolic acid or alpha hydroxyl acids of any kind, can cause the skin to lift while waxing as can prescription medications such as antibiotics, Acutane, or topical ointments such as Retin-A or Renova. Another area of caution is aggressive exfoliation of the skin, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peels. If you are taking Roaccutane we advise waiting six months after finishing this medication before being waxed. We are unable to remove hair from skin that is sunburnt, chafed or broken, or skin that has been treated with steroid cream within the last three months. Your comfort and safety come first; it s difficult to predict how skin will react, no matter how many precautions are taken. Keep in mind that everyone’s skin will react differently to waxing, but very few people have any adverse reactions.
I am not sure on which facial to have or which one would suit my skin type. Can you give me any advice?
When you book in for a facial, your therapist will be more than happy to assist you to determine which facial would be best suited to your particular skin type.
What actually happens during a facial treatment?
Generally all facials consist of a facial scrub then a 10 minute face massage followed by a face mask. When you come in for your facial, you will be asked to remove the clothing from the top part of your body and you will be provided with a towel and blanket to cover up. If you have long hair, we would also tie this back in to a hair band to keep it out of the way. A facial treatment is definitely one of the most relaxing beauty treatments you can have.
I already have wrinkles, is skincare really going to reduce them?
A combination of a rigorous homecare program of active anti-ageing products and frequent visits to a professional Beauty Therapist for more intensive treatments, will help to soften existing lines and minimise further fine lines from becoming deeper and more obvious. It is never too late to start using skincare and you are never too old to prevent further fine lines and wrinkles.
My skin is very sensitive and I react to everything I use, what can I do?
A visit to a professional Beauty Therapist is your first step. She will help you determine what it is you are allergic to and can advise you on a simple skincare routine to calm your skin down.
Seaweed & Algae based ranges are fantastic for anyone who suffers with a sensitive skin. Algae is totally natural and it contains the many different minerals that a sensitive skin requires to function properly. It is very rare that a skin will experience any irritations with a natural seaweed based skincare range.
What can I expect when I go in the first time?
Before we start your first massage, we will ask about your reasons for getting a massage, your current physical condition, medical history, lifestyle and stress level, any areas of pain, etc. During this consultation we will agree the areas to be massaged. Full body massage is best achieved when completely undressed while some prefer to keep their underwear on. For ladies, it is necessary to remove their bra when on their front for back massage. You will be covered by towels and only the area being treated will be uncovered. If you have any concerns you must say so at the consultation. In practice, once the massage starts your inhibitions usually are forgotten.
You may undress in private and drape yourself with a towel or dressing gown; then you will lie down on a comfortably padded massage table. If in your home undress in another room and wear a dressing gown. Only the part of your body being worked will be uncovered, and your modesty is respected.
What if I am unhappy or uncomfortable about the massage during the session?
At the start we will explain the massage process and if you experience any pain,or discomfort, we will either stop or reduce the pressure. If you are unhappy just say stop. The session is for your benefit so you must be comfortable to enjoy it. The same applies, if the massage needs to be deeper, just let us know and we will adjust the massage accordingly.
What happens at the end of a massage?
We will tell you when the session is finished. You will probably be feeling very sleepy and relaxed so you will be given the opportunity to relax for a few minutes before dressing. We then have a short consultation to see if the aims have been achieved and any points noted to take into account for the next session. You should drink plenty of water afterwards and avoid alcohol or caffeine. You should wait for about four hours to allow the oils to be absorbed before showering or bathing.
When would massage NOT be recommended?
With certain circulatory ailments, especially phlebitis / thrombosis, as well as: high fevers, infectious diseases, cancer (some types), cardiac problems, inflamed or infected injuries, areas of haemorrhage or heavy tissue damage, recent fractures or sprains. Also massage during early pregnancy is only recommended using safe oils such as tangerine.
Do I have any responsibilities during the massage?
- To give your therapist accurate health information
- To report discomfort of any kind, whether from your our body, room temperature, volume of music, or other distractions.
- Just fully relax and let the therapist move your limbs during the session. Also let the therapist lift up your head during neck massage.
Can I give massage to someone else for a gift?
Absolutely! We supply gift certificates. It’s a wonderful gift that allows you to treat your friends and family to a relaxing or pampering treat.
If I get a massage for pain or injury, will insurance cover it?
If a GP or hospital prescribes it, insurance will sometimes cover it. It depends on the company and the policy. You must check with your insurance company before the session.
